Asia Missions Association
In the early 1970s, God gave a vision to promote and raise the non-western mission forces to join in world missions. It was God’s timing to invite well-known Asian church leaders who shared the same vision of world mission. A consultation, called for by Dr. David J. Cho, was held in Seoul, Korea in 1973 to unite Asian resources. As a result of this, the Asia Missions Association (AMA) was formed for the purpose of promoting effective and spontaneous cooperation for Asian mission activities by means of exchanging experiences and sharing.
AMA has since conducted the triennial convention to promote Asia mission, and has developed an Asian church partnership to extend the vision of world mission to other continents. In the AMA convention in Moscow 2003, there were 320 delegates from 22 nations, including 160 pastors from all over Russia, and 14 pastors from 11 CIS countries who attended this historic convention, demonstrating oneness in Christ with one calling to save souls.
In the most recent 2006 convention held in Ephesus, Turkey, attendees traced the steps of the Apostles with the theme, “Mission,The Apostolic Way”. A study tour included the 7 churches of Revelation, and the suffering site of the early church in Macedonia and Patmos. 250 people from 28 countries joined this conference and demonstrated again the cooperation of Asian missions.
The upcoming 10th Triennial Convention of Asia Missions Association will be held in Jakarta, Indonesia. The 10,000 seat capacity of the Mawar Saron Church in Jakarta (Dr. Jakob Nahuwey, Senior Pastor and Chairman of AMA) will dedicate this church as a missional church. The theme of this convention will be ‘The Asian Church in Global Mission’, purposed to present the model church of global mission and the consequential blessing of God upon that church (for further details click the link to “AMA Jakarta 2010”).
